WHEN IS THIS NONSENSE GOING TO STOP?

THE FRENCH BOXING COMMISSION LICENCED THE BOXER ON THE LEFT TO BOX FOR A WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AND THERE IS A NEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD 31-YEAR-OLD CARLOS TAKAM (Cameroon.) IF THIS CAUSES YOU TO ASK CARLOS WHO? YOU HAVE NOT BEEN HAVING A BOXING RIP VAN WINKLE NAP AND MISSED THE K BROTHERS ANNOUNCING THEIR RETIREMENT, HE IS THE WBF WORLD CHAMPION

Carlos Takam has had 25 fights 23 in France and 2 in Belgium. He won 24 of this fights with a total of 87 rounds boxed and LOST by a unanimous decision to Gregory Tony (France) over 8 rounds.
Gregory Tony has had 17 fights, 4 in France, 2 in London both over 3 rounds each, winning one losing one on a unanimous decision. He fought in Germany for the vacant EBU heavyweight title and was TKO’d in 6 rounds. In the present unsettled state of boxing is in serious need of positive action not negative nonsense. The French Boxing Commission licensed the Takam – Botha World Heavyweight World Championship and by allowing this shambolic event with the tag of ‘World Heavyweight Championship, desecrates an historical sport with truly great heavyweight champions that allows them to be favourably ranked with any other premier sports stars.
In addition the French Boxing Commision has brought disgrace upon France and World boxing. At the same it has made itself a laughing stock.
It now means there is a possibility that boxing with six sanctioning bodies, WBC; WBA; WBO; IBF, IBO and now with the arrival of WBF there could be 102 World champions. Boxing cannot sustain this sinking weight and unless a remedy is put into operation without delay boxing like the French Boxing Commission will become a worldwide laughing stock.
It would be incorrect to blame WBF because they dId nothing wrong and there is no legal reason under the present set-up why they should step aside from any other sanctioning body. Their behaviour may not be illegal but is is possibled with reasonable thinking to forgive them for sanctioning a disreputable World Heavyweight Boxing Championship to gain a sanctioning fee.
My belief is such conduct is completely unacceptable and makes it impossible to recognise WBF if this is to be the quality of their organisation. The only World sanctioning body that has reasonable cause to be acknowledged as number one is the WBC. They have a history of valuable changes in boxing safety including a US$1 million investment with UCLA University in medical research to make boxing safer; they support two charities and other charitable organisation. It is also a non profit making organisation.
It is the sanctioning of World boxing championships system that is seriously flawed. It has no moral standing. Boxing Action has for long time sought change in boxing - amateur and professional. Unless essential changes is introduced and credibility is returnedd to The Sweet Science then matters will only worsen.
Full credit to Boxrec for recording the Takam – Botha contest as merely being for the African heavyweight title. However, it would be acceptable by many to state even this is a gross overstatement ~
If you have an extended memory you will know Frans Botha 12 years ago fought Lennox Lewis for the WBC, IBF and IBO World title and was TKO’d in 2 rounds. 10 years ago he was TKO’d by Wladimir Klitschko. 16 years ago he was TKO’d by Michael Moorer for the IBF World title. 17 years ago he fought Axel Schultz for the IBF title but the post fight drug test revealed positive steroids and it was dedclared a no contest . He is in his 44th year.
