‘MARAVILLA’ MARTINEZ WINS WBC TITLE WITH BROKEN HAND AND SURVIVING AN EXPLOSIVE LAST ROUND

Despite breaking his left hand in the 4th round Sergio Martinez relieved Julio Cesar Chavez (46-1-1, 32 KO’s) of his WBC World middleweight title. The unanimous verdict by the ringside judges was : 117-110, 118-109, 118-109. Martinez’s trainer Pablo Sarmiento said to ESPN “I’d offer credit for not showing that he [Martinez] was compromised [by the injury] during the tussle. He suffered a broken left hand in round four.” It is considered that the left hand of ‘Maravilla’ causes the most damage to his opponents . With the announcement that he had fought 8 rounds with only one sound hand has led to speculation that Julio Cesar was fortunate not to suffer a severe in addition to losing his World title. Where there should be no doubt is the never say die Mexican spirit of Julio Cesar Chavez remained intact throughout the fight and with the vocal support of his fans and countrymen at full volume and threatening to take the roof off the Thomas and Mack arena in Las Vegas, the son of the truly great Julio Cesar Chavez refused to give ground despite the contnual pressure from his formidable Argentine opponnent. Then came the 12th and final round and with the points tally set in an unbeatable total in favour of 'Maravilla' the result seeme to conclusive but with his nose bloodied and eyes swollen, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. dug deep and powerful left hooks to the body and head caused blood to spill from the nose and mouth of 'Maravilla" and with his legs going in different directions he was sprawled on the canvas. It seemed as if a volcano had suddenly exploded; the crowd went absolutely wild with excitement and the seemingly certain points win of 'Maravilla' had dramatically changed; the 'Fat Lady' would need to sing a different song. However, the courage and toughness noted in Argentine boxers was firmly set in survival mode and 'Maravilla' was forced to strruggle to his feet and last the tempestuous last round to claim the coveted WBC title. ~

CONFUSION REIGNS IN BOXING AND BOXING COMMISSIONS STAND ACCUSED

The confused state of boxing continues due to irresponsible decisions made by boxing commissions. David Haye is a boxer responsibly licenced by Luxembourg Boxing Federation (LBF) and on a licence issued by LBF he boxed Dereck Chisora who was also licenced by LBF. The promotion was a great success and was the boost British boxing fans needed.
David is not in the Top 10 of either sanctioning body WBC or IBF but he is rated by the alternative sanctioning organisations WBO (#2)  and WBA (#3.) However, Vitali Klitschko is not rated by either WBO, WBA or IBF but he is, of course, the WBC World champion.
There is now advanced talk that David will box Vitali Klitschko. To do this will David box on his valid LBF licence or will there be a caveat in the V. Klitschko contract that he would need to be licenced by the British Boxing Board of Control?
A further question that needs an answer is what if the BBBofC demand that before they re-licence David Haye he would have to  return the licence granted to him by LBF, the licence that made him a great deal of money and through the LBF licence he outgunned Dereck Chisora, and allowed him to claim his abysmal performance against Wladimir Klitschko was a past unfortunate phase and he is a genuine opponent to challenge Vitali Klitschko?
If the BBBofC licence David and allow him to retain his LBF licence then it could be construed as a silent acknowledgement of LBF. On the opposite sided of the coin for them to order David Haye to return his licence to LBF could be seen as a denial of competition choice.
BBBofC could therefores take themselves into a situation whereby its heads they lose and tails another wins.
This is the sorry state a boxing commission has allowed itself to get into and it does not end here.
Both WBO and WBA recognise LBF and they have both rated David Haye in their Top 10 rating
As a mark of respect WBC does not rate Wladimir Klitschko. Likewise, the WBO, WBA and IBF do not rate Vitali Klitschko.
This is commendable and makes good sense. Yet the media is highly critical of the sanctioning organisations, often with justification, and full of praise for boxing commissions; and yet it is boxing commissions who are the architects of the present person made serious bewildering confusion.
No doubt the pharmaceutical companies that make headache painkillers are applauding!
Change is desperately needed in boxing in addition to better judgement and thinking by people in responsible positions within commissions. Obstinate thinking an dogmatic attitudes usually result  in unwise decisions being made.
Many decisions by boxing commissions are career related to boxers and good people working in boxing promotions, this means extra care needs to be taken when decisions are made.
Successful promotions that give a great deal of pleasure to people worldwide and change for the better the lives of many people, do not come to pass solely by technology. They are overwhelmingly made good by people.
Change is desperately needed in boxing in addition to better judgement and thinking by people in responsible positions. Dogmatic and head in the sand thinking usually ends in making unwise decisions.  When this happens a boxer is usually the victim and it is then channeled through to other innocent victims. ~

BOXING COMMISSIONS DECLARE WAR – ON EACH OTHER! BOXING ACTION IS AGAIN VINDICATED

 Who should Robert

Pattinson date?

http://clnk.me/1x0gk

THE CRITICISM MADE BY BOXING ACTION ON THE MANNER IN WHICH BOXING COMMISSIONS CONDUCT THEIR BUSINESS HAS BEEN VINDICATED BY THE HEAVY DISPUTE PLACED IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN BY Mr. GREG SIRBCURRENT VICE PRESIDENT OF THE USA ASSOCIATION OF BOXING COMMISSIONS AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE ATHLETIC COMMISSION SINCE 1990. Mr. SIRBHAS CALLED ON THE WBC, WBO, WBA AND IBF TO STOP SANCTIONING ALL TITLE FIGHTS IN GERMANY AND TO SEND A MESSAGE TO GERMAN BOXING AUTHORITIES WHO DON’T RESPECT THE FIGHTFAX NATIONAL SUSPENSION LIST.
We never believed we would be supporting Dereck Chisora following his outrageous behaviour of slapping the face Vitali Klitschko at their weigh-in and spitting water in the face of Wladimir Klitschko.
However, in democratic countries even the worst of humankind is allowed to be seen to be given justice in a properly convened court. Dereck Chisora is nowhere near being in that league. Therefore, despite behaving disgracefully there is no valid excuse for not allowing him to be legally represented and given the opportunity to put forward a proper defence to any allegation made against him.
Boxing Action was seriously disturbed at the manner in which one of the German boxing commissions Bund Deutscher Berufsboxe (BDB) failed to honour the mandatory requirement of justice being seen to be done.
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRGH-FXEkk72WuMbGb07zouKg_7TfWIbTJTNbiIhqVwOp8g_aLnhgInstead BDB scorned the demands of justice given to all, and this includes the disgraced Dereck Chisora,
David Haye was the colour commentator on the V. Klitschko – Chisora title bout for a TV channel. He had no official reason to be at the media conference that followed the ttle bout and there is evidence he baited Dereck Chisora.
Unfortunately, Dereck took the bait and there should be no doubt that the affray that resulted was not wanted by either boxer.
However, without any form of an announced Tribunal hearing the BDB President  Thomas Putz immediately announced Dereck would have US$50,000 of his purse withheld and be given a lifetime ban on boxing in Germany.
By contrast David Haye was told by President Putz that he would be welcomed back to Germany to box at any time.
This was despite the German police exonerating Dereck Chisora from any criminal behaviour but instead they  issued a statement they wished to interview David Haye on a criminal matter, or matters, related to the affray.
Before the police could interview David he left Germany early and instead of using his return ticket he went instead to Las Vegas. USA.
Boxing Action later discovered a contest had been provisionally been made for David Haye to challenge Vitali Klitschko for his World championship and Germany was the favoured country on which  the World title would be staged and BDB would be the German boxing commission that would licence the World Championship.
Boxing Action decided that no call would be put through to the modern day Sherlock Holmes to investigate the matter because, as the ace sleuth Sherlock might have said to his friend and colleague, “It’s elementary, my dear Watson.”
Instead we decided to send-out for a powerful air purifier. ~
===================================================
In May of this year Mr. Greg Sirb called for a ban on World title contests taking place in Germany.
He released the following statement;
As per the Oliver McCall fight in Frankfurt, Germany on May 16, 2012 – Mr. McCall was under Medical Suspension from the Mohegan Sun Athletic Commission since November 11, 2011 for a serious medical condition.
This is at least the 3rd time the German Boxing Commission has allowed an American Boxer to compete in their country while under “Medical Suspension:” They also allowed Barry Butler and Lamont Brewster.
As World Boxing groups I really think it is time to STOP sanctioning any title fights in Germany
This maybe the only pressure that will make this group take notice of how serious this situation is. No more title bouts – at least until they comply with the basic RULE that if a Boxer is on the Medical Suspension List they cannot fight.
It is simple when you have any US fighter competing in a foreign country it should be the responsibility of that foreign Boxing Commission to request a Fight Fax so that they can determine that boxers accurate record and if that Boxer is under any type of Suspension
At the up-coming ABC meeting I will be instructing all members NOT to comply with any requests from the German Boxing Commission – this Commission has totally ignored the National Suspension List and has put one too many Boxers at risk.

The following reply has been made by Herr Thomas PützPresident Bund Deutscher Berufsboxe:
After reading the false public accusations of Mr. Greg Sirb regaring the sanctioning of fights in Germany involving suspended fighters I feel that in my position as president of the Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer (BDB) and in order to preserve the BDB and boxing in Germany in general from any harm I have to defend the dignity of the BDB and therefore to clarify a couple of things.
The BDB – internationally referred to as German Boxing Commission – is only sanctioning fights and allowing boxers to step into the ring when both contestants present valid home licenses and letters of their home commissions confirming that they are medically fit and allowed to participate in a professional boxing contest. In addition to that we have some of the best ringside physicians in the world working for the BDB who check and control the health of every fighter entering the ring before the weigh-in. Luckily, the world sanctioning bodies who have worked with the BDB for a long time and will surely continue working with the BDB in the future know that we are very strict in enforcing our rules and the BDB has never and will never allow boxers to enter the ring who are not medically cleared to compete in a fight. On the contrary, it has been the BDB who stripped the reigning German Champion from his belt because of his medical condition. We have been criticized, insulted and even sued because the health of the fighter was more important to us than the sanctioning fees we could have collected if we had allowed the champion to defend his title.
With this being said I can confirm that the fight between Oliver McCall and Francesco Pianeta has been supervised and sanctioned by the BDB. We had no obligations in sanctioning the fight because we have a written approval and confirmation from the Florida State Boxing Commission (Governor Rick Scott and Secretary Ken Lawson) that Oliver McCall is holder of a valid license (expiration date 05/11/16) and “not under any Florida suspension.” Correct me if I’m wrong but I always thought that suspensions by any US state would automatically be reported to the Commissions in all other States. If not, then this might rather be a problem between two US states than a problem caused by the BDB or in Germany. With all due respect I have to say that the BDB doesn’t even have a FightFax account because we rather trust in the reliability of all the international commissions we are working with and have been working with for decades than in a privately owned and run archive. So if we get an approval from a State commission stating that there is no suspension we have no reason to question this statement and do further investigation. I hope this helps to clarify all questions regarding the McCall vs. Pianeta fight. By the way, this fight was no title fight so taking it as a reason to ask for a ban on title fights doesn’t seem to make any sense to me.
Regarding the other references made by Mr. Sirb I have to acknowledge that he doesn’t seem to know that there are fundamental differences between the way boxing is organized in the United States and in Germany. Other than in the US where there is only one Athlethic or Boxing Commission in each state we don’t have a system like that over here. The BDB is the oldest and most important German Boxing Commission (and generally referred to when people speak about boxing in Germany) but there are also other commission and federations sanctioning fights in Germany.
Especially when talking about the cases of Barry Butler and Lamon Brewster I have to correct Mr. Sirb because the BDB – or as he puts it the German Boxing Commission – had nothing to do with the sanctioning of these fights.
Lamon Brewster fought against Wladimir Klitschko on July 7th, 2007 – this fight was not sanctioned by the BDB but by the GBO, a rather small commission the Klitschkos used to work with at that time; in the meantime Vitali and Wladimir returned to the BDB and their fights are sanctioned by us. In March and August 2009 and in January 2010, Brewster participated in three more fights in Germany (against Michael Sprott, Gbenga Oloukun and Robert Helenius) but all of these fights have been sanctioned by the Faustkämpferverband Austria (FVA), the Austrian Boxing Commission which is in charge of all fights promoted by Sauerland Events and has been for many years. The BDB cannot interfere with any decisions made by the FVA – although I’m pretty sure that the FVA would not allow fighters to step into the ring who have not been medically cleared. But as I said this is none of the BDB’s business.
As far as Barry Butler is concerned, his fight in Germany on November 29th, 2009 in Aachen has been supervised and sanctioned by the German Boxing Association (GBA), a rather small organization which is not member of the European Boxing Union and is therefore struggling for international recognition.
So before calling for a ban of title fights in Germany and before making false accusations towards the German Boxing Commission or boxing in Germany in general, Mr. Sirb should have looked into these details. The BDB is one of the oldest, most prestigious and most experienced boxing federations in Europe and in the world. We have sanctioned a lot of great world championship fights and seen many great champions. I hope that my explanation helps Mr. Sirb to understand the situation, to apologize for his false accusations and to distance himself from the intolerable comments and requests he made probably without knowledge of any details. I respectfully suggest that Mr. Sirb does a little more research next time before publicly making serious statements like the ones I had to respond to with this message.
Thomas Pütz
President Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer.

THE MONEY TEAM NOW APPEARS TO BE WORTH NOT A CENT

THE CENTSLESS TMT BOXING PROMOTIONS COMPANY

THE UNPREDICTABLE MINDSETS OF THE TWO PARTNER OF TMT (THE MONEY TEAM) 50 CENTS AND FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. HAS NOW TAKEN A SERIOUS TURN AND THIS HIGHLY VAUNTED BOXING PROMOTION COMPANY HAS GONE FROM HIGH EXPECTATIONS TO TURMOIL - TO TMT CLOSURE WITHOUT PROMOTING ONE SHOW. IF THERE WAS A SERIOUS TMT COMPANY EVER AT ANY TIME FORMED, IT HAS NOW COLLAPSED BEFORE IT STARTED. PERHAPS, 50 CENTS SHOULD WRITE  A RAP SONG WITH THE NURSERY RHYME THEME, ‘BOYS AND GIRLS COME OUT  TO PLAY.”
In normal circumstances if two partner in a commercial venture have a parting of the ways then that is their problem to resolve. In the case of TMT the matter is far more serious for boxing.
TMT has signed several boxers on contract and these boxers are now legally committed to TMT. The big question is what will now happen to these boxers?
With contracts in place they will have to wait until non performance is proven. How long this will take depends on the skill of lawyers.
However boxing commissions could act in a much shorter period of time .
Boxing Action has been critical of the lack of action by boxing commissions on matters that affect boxers and boxing that are not fully detailed in their rules books but come under the category of conduct prejudicial to the good name of boxing.
Presumably, a boxing commission has licensed TMT as promoters. Therefore, this commission, or commissions, is/are duty bound to hold a full inquiry and to take all necessary action to safeguard the boxing career interests of the boxers that have committed themselves by a legal deed to TMT, and where necessary to ensure suitable compensation is paid to any boxer suffering career harm due to the demise of TMT.
Boxing commissions set themselves up as guardians of boxing. Boxing Action is keen to know what benefit comes from these commissions other than enforcing the rules contained in their rule books and collecting registrations fees and fines from their members who break their rules, and/or are banned from boxing.
Is there any ONE boxing commission that has a facility to help retired boxer, especially those needing financial assistance and after care advice on employment or what ever?
The decision by 50 Cents and Floyd Mayweather to split under a hazy cloud their partnership breaK-up has come with a variety of reasons ranging from 50 Cents supposedly becoming too friendly with a girlfriend of Floyd, Shantel Jackson, when the WBC champion was incarcerated for assaulting the Mother of his children; to the statement made by 50 Cents on the Ricky Smiley Morning Show in the USA, “Me and Floyd is always gonna be cool. He is different. [There is now] a different side of Floyd coming out of the pen [penitentiary] . That’s all.
They both have more dough than Mr. Pillsbury and more liquid cash than some African countries.
However, outside of Boxing Action, and the WBC website, where do you read in the press or on TV, the excellent charitable work WBCCares does for young children in hospitals, the WBC charity the assistance given to boxers that have fallen on hard times; the gaining of a trust fund for needy boxers financed by the richest man in the World, Sr. Carlos Slim; the WBC financing a US$1,000,000 programme for a  leading USA University to make boxing safer - and there is more.

There is none of which we are aware.
The high profile Nevada State Athletic Commission that is responsible for boxing in the fertile financial city of Las Vegas, fined Mike Tyson on one occasion US$3 million dollars. This great deal of money was paid into the NSAC General Fund but there was no allocation of part of this money to any boxer or boxing charity.
If there was we will gladly publish the details.
The rapper and would-be boxing promoter continued, “ [The issues between us] really [come] from…everybody around [Mayweather Jr,] is waiting on the next time he feels generous and I have a lot [of money], so I don’t wait for nobody.
If a boxer spoke like that boxing would be blamed
However, if the disjointed English grammar was put to music it might make a rap hit.
Boxing Action could add to the melting pot of speculation by referring to our earlier reported concern that the real purpose of TMT could be 50 Cents was solely interesting in making the Floyd Mayweather Jr. – Manny Pacquiao bonanza fight.
Credence for this beliefnow comes from a the most recent statement that 50 cents is reported to have become ‘cosy’ with Manny Pacquiao and has offered a 50-50 deal to Manny to become a partner in another boxing promotion Company.
So far there has not been a statement of which we are aware, from Floyd Jr. nor Manny Pacquiao.
For 50 Cents to want to have a boxing promotions business with Manny P. is about as far sighted as the range of Mr. Magoo.
Manny is committed to a political career, so how he is going to give time to a 24 hour on call as a boxing promoter? Is he likely to leave a major Parliamentary debate to take an urgent call to find a replacement needed for 'tomorrows's' main event?
There isalso the formidable prsence of Bob Arum to overcome.
Both 50 Cents and Floyd Jr. enjoy spending money. Therefore, if they have respect for boxers and boxing then they should brief a respected lawyer and through legal Council  issue an adult worded statement setting out the exact position of TMT and future for the boxers under contract to them as individuals or to TMT.
The correct business procedure for the TMT Company to take may be beyond 50 Cents and Floyd Jr. therefore for them to seek the advice of an experienced lawyer in boxing and general commerce matters would remove the speculation.
While this is taking place the boxing commission, or commissions, involved in licensing TMT, that is if they are licensed, need to take action to avoid further disreputable publicity gaining further distribution worldwide.
In the meantime the boxers would be well advised to also seek legal advice. The way the situation is being reported could mean a claim for damages could be open to any boxers that may have been misled by the former two partners of  TMT.
Should it transpire TMT was not licensed then the boxing commissions with whom the boxers under contract to TMT are licensed, are obliged to take immediate steps protect the interest of these boxers. Will they take this appropriate action. Is the tortoise a good trade mark for Usain Bolt?
The media whipping boys of boxing, the sanctioning bodies, WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF are on a regular basis taken to task for decisions they make.
None of the WBC money for charitable projects goes into a ‘General Fund’ but they are all separately administrated and no WBC Executive receives payment for his work,
It now appears that regular TV and Pay Per View TV have learnt their lesson and have realised that World title contests have to bear the authentic sanction of an established body to satisfy the public. The foolish idea that only the appeal of matches would satisfy the public has been exposed as being nonsense.
However, the four sanctioning bodies have a duty to rid boxing of the ludicrous fact there are 68 ‘World’ champions. There is but one World and the definition of ‘Champion’ means only one. Therefore there has to be only one true World champion for every weight. The rest are titleholders.
Sanctioning bodies have rid boxing of the increasing crippling anomaly of 68 ‘World champions’ without further delay. It is doing great harm boxing and, in turn, the credibility of the sanctioning bodies. ~
